A developer’s proposal for a 150-child day care center at the busy intersection of Kresson Road and Browning Lane in Cherry Hill will go before the Zoning Board of Adjustment on Thursday night.

Philadelphia-based MIRA Properties plans to build an 8,885-square-foot Kiddie Academy Educational Child Care facility, which includes a 3,500-square-foot fenced play area and 47 parking spaces, on a one-acre site previously occupied by two single-family homes. According to the application, the center would employ 22 people.

Burger King redo: From burgers to tank trucks in Cherry Hill in proposal to take over

In June, the Burger King on Route 70 in Cherry Hill closed its doors for good, ending years of service. Now, Polar Services Center, a national tank trailer and repair facility located on Astoria Boulevard, is seeking to move onto the vacant property.

Polar Services Center is scheduled to appear before the Township Planning Board on September 16. They are requesting approval for a preliminary and final major site plan, as well as variances, to take over the former Burger King site. Their proposal includes expanding their trailer and tank storage, as well as employee parking.

New Project Will Restore the Environment

A developer of two hotels and a restaurant on Route 70 in Cherry Hill spent four years navigating expanded New Jersey environmental rules and local zoning laws before receiving approval to build. The Township approved the plan this month, which includes restoring and protecting the natural setting around a tributary of the Cooper River near South Union Avenue with a deed restriction on development. Old asphalt, concrete surfaces, gravel, debris, and invasive plant species will be removed from around the stream. The site will feature 282 canopy trees (60 to 100 feet at maturity) and 257 smaller trees (30 to 50 feet at maturity), according to the development plan.

Two major Cherry Hill “Gateway” development plans on Route 70, featuring two five-story hotels, an upscale restaurant, a new car wash, and a coffee/doughnut shop on largely unused land east of Cuthbert Boulevard, are set for the zoning board on Thursday.

Although initially approved in 2020, the developers are seeking new preliminary and final major site plan approvals after amending their plans. They secured permissions from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection due to a tributary of the Cooper River running through the property. The hotel developer also purchased a small lot previously owned by Cooper University Health Care that was surrounded by the project.
