Subaru of Cherry Hill is moving forward with plans for a new dealership along Route 70 in Cherry Hill.
The dealership would relocate from 1800 Route 70 to approximately 14 vacant acres at 2235 Route 70.
Notably, the property previously served as Subaru of America’s corporate headquarters. The company operated there before relocating to Camden in 2018.
The Cherry Hill Planning Board originally approved the dealership project in 2023. However, Subaru is now seeking approval for amended site plans.
The changes address updated site design requirements related to New Jersey flood hazard regulations. The Cooper River sits across Park Boulevard from the property.
Subaru’s amended application is scheduled for Planning Board consideration on September 8.
Plans call for a 67,035-square-foot building featuring showroom, service, and office space. The showroom would span approximately 21,840 square feet.
Meanwhile, the service area would total approximately 36,350 square feet.
The development would also include 658 parking spaces. Of those, 454 spaces would support the dealership’s vehicle inventory.
Once completed, the facility could employ approximately 80 people across its sales, service, and parts operations.
Additionally, landscaping would incorporate Subaru branding while drawing inspiration from the company’s Camden headquarters.
The project would bring a prominent Route 70 property back into active commercial use. The former corporate headquarters was demolished in 2019.
For Subaru, the development also represents a return to a familiar Cherry Hill location.
More broadly, the project reflects continued reinvestment along one of South Jersey’s busiest commercial corridors. Route 70 remains a significant destination for automotive, retail, healthcare, and other commercial uses.
If the amended plans receive approval, Subaru could move closer to transforming the long-vacant site into its next Cherry Hill dealership.
