A multi-level go-kart racing venue is planned for the Route 70 entrance of Cherry Hill’s Garden State Park shopping complex, with the historic Garden State Park Gatehouse set to be preserved as part of the project, according to developer plans.
Sangermano Management LLC, operating as Supercharged Entertainment of Sunny Isles, Florida, is seeking preliminary and final major site plan approval from the township zoning board, which will review the application on Thursday, March 20. Supercharged Entertainment already operates a track in Edison, Middlesex County.
The proposed 89,000-square-foot, two-story facility will feature a racing venue, arcade, 18-lane bowling alley, and restaurant/bar on a 9.69-acre lot facing Route 70. A separate one-third-acre lot will be subdivided to house the historic Gatehouse. For decades, the site was home to horse racing, with the original track opening in 1942 and burning down in 1977. A new, state-of-the-art track opened in 1985 but struggled financially and closed in 2001.
