Cherry Hill Proposes Zoning Change for Farmland Preservation

Cherry Hill is considering expanding a special agricultural zoning law beyond the Township-owned Holly Ravine Farm to help preserve more farmland. A proposed ordinance, set for review by the Township Council on Monday evening, would extend the Agriculture-Horticulture Commercial overlay to 248 acres, including Springdale Farm, Springhouse Farm, McNaughton’s Garden Center, and 200 Evans Lane.

Without this overlay, the land would not qualify for state or county farmland preservation funding. Existing zoning rules remain unchanged. Councilmember and former Mayor Fleisher has long advocated for land preservation in Cherry Hill, the most populous township in South Jersey. A final decision is expected at the March 10 meeting.
