Cherry Hill Planning Board to Review Recreation Plan Monday

In the 1960s and 1970s, Cherry Hill was a symbol of suburban growth, with its population more than doubling. The focus was on expansion.

Today, as former farms and woodlands have transformed into residential and commercial developments, residents are now asking how to preserve green space.

“We’ve really reached maximum capacity,” said Cherry Hill native Eric Ascalon, who raised his three children in the town.

Ascalon led the fight to save the 23-acre Holly Ravine farm from being developed into senior housing. Last year, the Township purchased the farm near Evesham and Springdale roads, ensuring it remains open space and potentially allowing for future agricultural use.
