Cherry Hill Farming Plan Raises Concerns Over Pesticides, Tree Removal

A Cherry Hill Township proposal to allow farming on the recently acquired Holly Ravine Farm open space has raised concerns from the Planning Board, particularly regarding pesticide use and potential tree removal for cultivation.

The Township Council is seeking the board’s recommendations before deciding on whether to amend zoning laws to permit agriculture and horticulture on the 23-acre site. The Township purchased the land for $3.86 million in January from the Gilmour family to preserve it as open space, after residents opposed a developer’s plan to clear the area for senior housing.
